The first genuine shot at a live action Fantastic Four movie didn’t come in 2005 but with Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four 1994. After completion and without the knowledge of the director, actors and composers the whole project was buried, never to see the light of day. Until it was leaked in the early 2000’s.
